Budget reporting of areal fluxes

Recharge and evapotranspiration are applied as to in/outflow to slice 1 in units of m/d using the expression editor.  However, postprocessing of calculated recharge/ET flux only provides results as nodal fluxes (in m3/d).  This is not particularly useful for mapping purposes because very small fluxes are reported where the mesh size is smaller and vice versa.

It would be useful see an additional fluid flow process variable with nodal fluxes to be converted back into an equivalent vertical rate (m/d), allowing the representation of simulated recharge/ET variations in space.  The challenge with this will be the area integration - what is the area associated with a node?

Having access to area, volume, etc as Auxiliary Data would be very helpful, as well as the transformation FEFLOW uses to compute nodal values of recharge, Kx, etc from elemental values.

The manual solution to this involved calculating "thiessen polygons" for each model node and clipping to the model domain.  Gives a pretty good approximation of the relative "area" of each node.  Requires an ArcInfo licence.

have you checked, are they true thiessen polygons?

Yes, I believe they are.. Any location inside a Thiessen polygon is closer to the node contained in that polygon than to any other node.
