Effect of Manning coefficient on gravel bars in MIKE21c
« on: February 20, 2017, 11:48:23 am »
I am modelling sediment transport with mike 21C. I have several overgrown gravel bars, where I suspect resistance on water flow is quite high. Measurements also show deposition of material at these sites. During calibration of the model I've determine high Manning coefficients on these gravel bars, but results show surprisingly increase in erosion instead of decrease as I would suspect (see the attachment). All gravel bars are under water during high flows. They are modelled as part of stream bathymetry (not as islands).

Thank you for any suggestions on this topic.
Best regards,
